I hear you.

And you're doing better than I am today. I've already stroppily disagreed with two people.

I sometimes find it cathartic to type a scathing comment and then hit "delete" rather than "post".

But I haven't even posted my account of the G20 protests yet. :-)

I know this one.

There are times when I don't pick a fight, but do sound the discordant voice - if everyone else is saying, "Ohhh, hugs!!!" when what they're thinking is "She needs to X, really, get a grip" - I tend to be the one to say it. More politely (and more politely than others will, behind the poster's back, as well). (This isn't about anyone we have mutually friended, btw).

I do, however, have the sense to hit "unfriend" the third or fourth time someone launches out at me in their lj. They're free to do so but I see no reason to read it. :P

I found that commemting with the pic below was usually all I needed to vent my spleen in such cases. (But then, I don't know your friend, or what the troll said.)

Do not feel the troll

Heh - I was going to go search for the "Do not feed the troll" sign, but you beat me to it ;)

Why don't you write up what you want to say and send it to your friend, who would probably be delighted to have someone to stew about the stupid anonytroll with?

I was just going to send the following email to the friend:

Me, to James: [brief synopsis of troll nonsense]

Him: "Yeah, 'cause every four-year-old I know asks 'Mama, am I viviparous?'"

;-)

The general rule regarding genuine trolls is applicable to this case as well: attention is what they crave. Do not give it to them.

Separating the above from other situations though, and for future reference, if you see any anonytrolls in my LJ, or even if you just want to pick a fight with any of my other LJ friends because you hate them, or are having a bad day, or they're being idiots: GO FOR IT.

What kind of sandbox is it where you're not allowed to hit the other kids over the head with a spade?? A rubbish one, I tell ya!

I want to know where she leaves, if that would be typical behavior in a kindergarten classroom.
