Some of us have learned from other LJ users (I'm looking at you james_nicoll) that when they say "don't go there", you _really_ don't want to go there.
you could write to hasbro and inform them that it was so sweet they were thinking ahead for your little girl, because she might have a sex change operation, after all.
I am given to understand, though I'd need to confirm this, that parents are less likely to buy toys for male children if the toys are associated with female children. I'm sure it's because women have achieved more than equal standing in the world, and they don't want their boys to get above themselves.
Perhaps a letter-writing campaign? eg "Dear Tonka, Between us, my four sisters and I have seven children, six of whom are girls. Your toys are well-constructed and wonderful to play with, as we remember from when we borrowed them from male playmates as children, but we will not buy them for our eager sons or daughters because of your grossly sexist advertising. We value creative, exploratory, risk-taking play, and we will find other means for boys and girls alike to have it. Now fuck off and die."
