On Mother's Day we didn't do anything Mother's Dayish, but we did all go to the South Street Theatre (memo to self: buy tickets for the late April show) and it was wonderful; we saw Claytime by Indefinite Articles, where they first act out a lot of informal experimenting with clay and then the children create a story and the actors make the story elements out of clay and act it out. And at the very end the children all got a bit of clay themselves and made things. The story was about a butterfly called Lucia who had a box to sleep in and flew into someone's mouth. Er. But it was fabulous and they all loved it. Afterwards we went for doughnuts and then came home and had mountains of housework.
Also, I spent a lot of the day in horrible pain, which made the housework much more appealing - but it's always worse to leave it to Monday morning than to tackle it on Sunday night, because at least on Sunday night I have company. Most of the pain was from 6 years ago, too, rather than because of this pregnancy, which is very annoying when it happens.
For some reason, we had eleven inflated balloons in the house. Might count them again 10 days later, see how many survived.
On Monday I lost an underripe avocado and started the day by doing three hours' housework. My appetite for breakfast just collapses in chaotic circumstances and I have to clean up before I can face eating again. This isn't as convenient as it sounds.
Also, various Ebay things arrived - maternity clothing, and Geomag toys for the children (yes, for the children, honest!) so that was very lovely indeed. We listened to lots of music, though had to stop Peter and the Wolf early on because it was too scary, and did sums and ate chives from the pot on the bay-window table, and I posted to Twitter If one more child says "But Daddy doesn't have to" when asked to pick up after themselves, I am filing for divorce. It hasn't happened since, so that's ok.
On Tuesday, I found the avocado - late in the afternoon - and cruelly refused to allow Linnea to stay in the garden in her underwear even though she REALLY WANTED to stay there ALL NIGHT UNTIL DAWN.
Wednesday was St Patrick's Day so I stayed in in case I saw something offensive, and in the evening saw something so offensive online that I called the police, who took notice. I am not going to discuss it any further than that so please don't ask. But that was why Thursday's first tweet was The kids are having a good morning and I am surviving. Unbelievably awful night, which actually IMPROVED after Emer woke at 5am. I'll try T.
Thursday started badly but I managed to eat around lunchtime and more Geomag arrived in the post, so it was not too bad in itself, other than how I felt. Oh, and I wrote to my MP about the DEB, for all the good that'll do. In the evening I went out to dinner with friends, which was wonderful and got me out of the house and away from the contents of my own head. Also, we went to Wagamama and I ate something I hadn't tried before, and it didn't make me sick (sometimes new foods have soy in them, which doesn't agree with me).
On Friday, because the washing machine was broken, I brought lots of laundry to the laundrette; two of them were soaking and needed rewashing because they had been washed but not spun and then sat overnight. It took three hours and involved an awful lot of bending and lifting and even some balancing on one leg, which is absolutely forbidden when one has SPD, as I have. Oops. And it rained.
But Emer phoned Rob for a chat and the cute was so overwhelming I almost split my head open smiling at her. Then when we went out the front door was pernickety again and I decided that will be the next Massive House Purchase. And after that, the flat roof over the bathroom. Bah.
Eventually Rob phoned to say he was coming home and I was so glad to hear his voice that I almost didn't hang up the phone so that he could actually get on the bike and cycle home.
And then I started knitting a circular hat. Right now, it's on three double-pointed needles and about an inch long, but that's progress, right?
I still couldn't get to sleep before 2 am though. This new baby is very active from midnight to two.
