Well, we haven't eaten breakfast yet, but I have scrubbed measles off both children in the bath, using a scrubbing brush on Linnea's body and a facecloth on her face and Emer's body. While I was upstairs listening to the death toll in Australia Linnea was downstairs climbing chairs to find the permanent markers.

She didn't like the scrubbing brush.

Anyway, now all three of us have washed hair and the worst of the spots are off both girls. I can't get them off the bathroom wall.

And the dishwasher is running, and the laundry is on and the other laundry is hung up and, at last, the porridge is cooked, so here we go.

Red permanent marker. Very thorough job, too.

This may seem entirely counter-intuitive, but try coloring over one of the wall spots with the same marker, and *immediately* wiping/scrubbing it off. Permanent marker will act as a solvent for permanent marker, if you work really fast.

Don't ask me how I know this...

Makes sense. Also nail varnish remover, IPA, swarfega, and that sticky stuff remover are all useful solvents to have kicking around the place.

That's a trick I've used often and oft, but sadly I had to get it off the kids first, and by then the paintwork had absorbed a lot of it... however, the cleaning lady took a layer of paint off with wire wool, so I can at least paint over it.

I also couldn't realistically scrub Linnea's eyelids, so she looks, um, quite unwell.

(Nailvarnish remover is also quite good at permanent marker).

The last time I worked in a day-care center, there were two girls who became rather infamous for taking a black permanent marker and coloring in their "private areas." One of their Mom's had just read them a book about not letting anyone touch their private areas, and the girls decided to color in those bits, so there'd be no confusion.
