I thought it was brilliant too. I love the idea of promoting breastfeeding as the true purpose of breasts.

I found it difficult to believe that her son's baby hand was only the second to touch her breast ... and I'm afraid that put me off reading the rest, that and the heavy emphasis on feminism which tends to turn me off somewhat. Glad you enjoyed it though - I certainly firmly believe that breastfeeding is to be encouraged, supported and celebrated!

I skipped to the bottom for the bio for context.

No, I think the problem was that I wasn't reading attentively and missed that bit! Entirely my own fault ... if I had read it properly I'm sure it would have been quite clear.

Word. Ever since I started feeding my daughter, I feel like I am reclaiming my breasts for myself and for their original purpose. They're not primarily for staring at and sexual gratification, they're not for putting on the front pages of magazines, they're not for airbrushing, they're not for plastic surgery. I have breasts so that I can feed my children. End of.

I've been having sex with a gentleman since 1994. In all that time, he's been very good about not touching me where I don't want to be touched. Wearing a camisole to bed can be a helpful reminder, but the important thing is going to bed with a person who respects boundaries. Breasts need not be involved in the traditional method of conceiving children, as I understand it. Personally, I am sufficiently freaked out by the thought of anybody, male or female, touching my breasts, that it's discouraged me from having children. It's not the only reason for me not to have a child...but it has always felt like one of the significant ones.

She could have conceived the child through artificial insemination. But she didn't say, and other people with similar issues may have other (less expensive) solutions.
