Days 9 and 10: Good things
Jan. 11th, 2009 04:41 pmDay 9: Friday the ninth of January
78We all woke in good humour and 79breakfast was marvellous. 80The house was tidy because we'd done so much on the day before and 81the children and I had a sweet fruit omelette for lunch. 82A community I'm in had a huge recipes fest with breakfasts, lunches and soups all involved, and 83we had a lovely dinner of burgers followed by Rob's very first madeira cake for dessert. The children and I iced it together and Rob, Linnea and I liked it very much. Emer's not that pushed but it's cake, she's not all that pushed about cake anyway. 84Rob's Christmas present finally arrived and 85Emer and I had a lot of fun wrapping it and 86Rob seemed to like it and 87he gave me The Audacity of Hope with which I am delighted.
Day 10: Saturday
88Rob and the children spent a good deal of time together and 89Rob cooked lunch. We had a tiff about the state the house and kitchen get into when he's home, as usual, but then we got into some DIY instead so that the house looked worse but I felt better about it. 90We're putting wall-mounted shelves up in the front room around the television so that we gain floorspace and shelf-space over the units we were using instead. As a side-effect we 91got rid of a load of video tapes we never used and didn't care about; they're in a bag waiting for a charity shop or something. We haven't got rid of any more books yet but I'm sure we will. 92It also gives the kids more toy-space and I think it means we can better organise the cables for the home entertainment malarky. In his copious free time, 93Rob brought the damaged trike wheel to the repair guy to have a new spoke fitted. Perhaps in summer I'll learn to do it myself and show Rob. He was very happy to learn how to mend a puncture.
In the evening, 94Rob and I watched TV together, which doesn't happen very much, but we're trying to do more of it. Neither of us is really into TV but we can try.
