Dreams aren't real

Today has been the kind of day where things I believe turn out to have been dreams.

Most of it is stuff I didn't believe yesterday, like that the cup Rob used to have with himself and Linnea on it is in the dresser. I have no idea where that cup actually is, mind you.

I also have reached a limit for the number of people I can help to wean their babies off the breast and onto bottles. I find it very emotionally draining to help women do this, and totally unrewarding. The only reason I ever do it is because it's not empowering to women to have me tell them what they ought to do. Helping sincerely and without letting my judgment interfere - working as though I feel in my gut that what a mother wants is best for her baby - is very hard work indeed.

Sigh.

Otherly, Linnea uses the word "goodly" which I adore.

Also, I have finally caved in and ordered a couple of wardrobes from Argos. If I don't get my bedroom sorted out before Christmas I will go spare, whatever spare means.

You've helped a woman you don't even know. One of the women who sat the Childcare exam with me last week was telling me that she's getting comments from family about breastfeeding her 13 month old & I reassured her that she's doing great That's all down to you & the confidence you give off in your lj. She was pleasantly surprised that I agreed with her & is now happy to leave things as they are.

You've helped me too :) And I keep feeling like I am The Breastfeeding Example for friends who are planning or just starting their families (especially those where the woman wants to keep her existing career), and the Extended Breastfeeding Example for other mothers I meet in the nursing rooms of various shops in Cambridge. I'm getting quite good at handling "and you still breastfeed?" now ...
