Farmor flinched and I muttered "That's why there are so many in government and at the head of industry," but we basically let it slide. He almost never visits and I didn't want to make that really never. But it's horrible that they are being exposed to that from someone they love from age 1, 5, 7 years old...

Still, Rob didn't grow up believing crap like that, so they'll probably be fine. Except that Rob wasn't in the attacked group. Hm.

My dad was all about the "women are stupid and can't park cars" and now I are scientist. And I can park a 36 foot yacht. So while it didn't do me no harm at all, I didn't end up believing it. It just made for some really serious arguments.

My grandpa and uncle have been trotting out similar shite all my life. All I heard was blahblahblah grown-up noise until I was Linnea's age or maybe a bit older, and then I just scorned them for being idiots. What you've shown them will go in and stick.

My memory is that I could name and shame outright sexism like that from very early on, and it was the much more insidious stuff that actually gets into your brain and sticks there. Oh well!

That's very likely for Astrid, possible for Emer (I haven't met her since 2007, so I won't try to guess how likely), but probably not all that likely for Linnea, from my memories of her.
