Day 5: Good things
Jan. 5th, 2009 09:18 pmI woke this morning and found a flask of (41) hot coffee, which got me through dressing and assembling laundry, and doing a load in the dishwasher. Then Rob phoned to say that it was snowing, so I had the girls look out the window - Emer looked first and saw only the bin lorry, coming to collect the recycling (but not ours, because we can't fill it in a fortnight so we don't bother to leave it out) and so I had Linnea look and she immediately cried out (42) "Snow! the autumn is over!" which, er, yes, well. Then I pootled about online for a bit and then we had (43) visitors, which was great, though fraught because everyone is feeling emotionally fragile, I think - there was a game which involved jumping off the top of the sofa onto the seat, which is a permitted use of the furniture because I can always replace the seat, but sometimes Emer was on the seat, which is a definite no-no. However, they calmed down more or less after I hauled them in to the dining room to draw. Then both families went to Tesco (why yes, my morals are crumbling in the cold New Year when faced with my desolate, depressing larder) and to console myself for the anti-limescale stuff I bought we got some (44) organic free-range eggs and some (45) rice milk, so now we can survive until tomorrow's proper market. When we got home, via a trip to the playground which ended in minor injury for Louis, (46) Emer napped and Linnea and I had a little chat about how much I love her even when I'm cross. Rob came home and cooked (47) Pat Kight's Curry, which we ate with John Hoggett's apple chutney, and Linnea went to bed. Now (48) Rob is making cake (actually, it's baking while he's making big tractors from lego for Emer)
and (49) I'm eating Polski Chleb, ie rye bread.
