High heels

Linnea got a pair of Disney Toys'R'Us plastic dress-up high heeled sandals for Christmas, from a friend of hers. She opened the parcel today.

The soles are a couple of inches longer and a couple of centimetres narrower than her actual feet; she says they ARE TOO wide enough for her feet except maybe for that little toe. She had the sense to ask Rob to help her downstairs by holding both her hand as she stepped very carefully.

When she took them off - they really did slow her down - all her toes were very red and her instep was pinched white where the band of the shoe was.

I think I don't need to confiscate them; I think they will be their own lesson.

But really - they are several sizes too big, and still too narrow.

8) We had plenty of coffee in the house this morning, so Rob made me some.
9) There was delicious lamb stew for dinner.
10) We had our first dinner guest of the new year - a neighbour, and so
11) We used the new tablecloth from Bishopston Trading for the first time.
12) Our monthly payments all went out today and we're STILL in the black.
13) We had baked pears and wine to make dinner A Special Occasion.
14) Though the weather is freezing, the solar-heated water is at 20C or so during the day, not the below-5-C at which it comes out of the ground.
15) We've seriously started the post-giftmas decluttering and tidying.
16) We had unexpected guests this morning, who brought the kids' Christmas gifts.
17) My friend Ellie is back for Christmas from the US and we'll see her on Sunday evening.
