Yesterday at the pool Emer and I were splashing each other in the toddler pool. She slapped the water with both hands and lower arms, the manual equivalent of a belly-flop, and retired to the top of the slide to nurse her wounds. After a short minute of sitting still looking miserably at her knees, she brought her arms up, kissed the backs of her wrists, and said "Deh, da bedda."
