Elsenet, someone remarked that her daughter has nursery clothes which are not suitable for everyday use, so she needs new things to wear at weekends.

I'm confused. Weekends are two days long. How is that everyday?

And do kids really do more messy things at nursery than at home with their parents? Linnea's always cleaner after times in creches than after time with me at home, presumably because they can't bath her so painting etc is more restrained.

But everyday meaning "two days a week" bothered me.

Bruise

Emer has a bruise on her arm, two semi-circles where Linnea bit her. Yesterday it was pink, today it is blackening. And when I stroke and kiss it, I am shocked that I can't feel the pain of it - it hurts to look at it, so that it's ridiculous that it doesn't hurt to touch.

We've acquired a two-seater sofa off Freecycle, we've got rid of four CD racks and a zimmer frame, I've achieved well-risen wholemeal bread which slices predictably enough to make toast, and a stranger said, when asked, that the house doesn't smell of potty-training.

I hope to sort through Linnea's books and the cloth nappies, and with luck, tomorrow we'll go to London, drop the trike off for a service, and take the girls to the Natural History Museum.
