It's midnight in the library
Oct. 27th, 2006 11:58 pmAll the children have gone to bed. It's time for storymakers to... go to bed too, come to think of it. I've just packed. We have three bags:
The usual nappy bag, stuffed to the gills because although it contains only disposable nappies, it also contains lunch.
A carry-on sized wheelie suitcase, with clothes, and a travelcot for Emer.
Linnea's tea-set bag with tea-things, a drawing pad and pencils, a book, and a stuffed toy. Oh, and some snack foods.
I also have my handbag, into which I stuffed the toothbrushes at the last minute because I forgot them. We still haven't managed to buy a birthday present but we do have a card. With luck, train station WHSmiths will have what we're looking for; town centre ones here didn't, quite.
Disposable nappies are tiny, and it's nice to know that that space will be freed up on the return trip, assuming we use all the nappies.
(Other things we did today: Rob took a taxi to the laundry service to collect the clothes because their van broke down and they couldn't deliver before tomorrow, by which time I'd be gone. Before that we went to town and I bought winter boots including fancy insoles to stop my legs falling off - they will take breaking in though so I won't be wearing them at the weekend. And before that we went to the opticians, where a charming man put bits of plastic into my eyes while I breastfed the baby and resisted kicking him in the shin.)
(Oh, and I SLEPT IN UNTIL AFTER TEN AM).
