ailbhe: (going places)
Today Linnea woke early, Rob got up with her, gave her some bread to be going on with, put the porridge on, made himself a cup of tea, sat down, and fell asleep. The smell of burning porridge woke him some 40 minutes later.

We had pancakes for breakfast; they were lovely.

Because of that, Rob was late leaving for work, so he worked from home until it was time to go to our appointment. We got a taxi there and back and he was probably at work in the office by noon, I reckon. I spent some time chatting to the woman who was minding Linnea for us, which was very pleasant, and then came home with time to feed Linnea her lunch before the midwife was due (she tends to book a 2-hour slot for visits to my house, to allow herself to be late leaving her previous appointments). She arrived, took blood, blood pressure, urine sample, fetal heart, etc. All well. Her back is getting better too. We had a lovely long chat but I still haven't learned what would make a good gift and I still haven't remembered to check her ears for piercings. Perhaps I'll just get her a pinard pendant, a photo of Tadpole, some wine vouchers, and a copy of the new book. It doesn't quite amount to the Nobel Prize for Midwifery but I can't quite obtain that single-handed.

She's moving to Scotland in the winter. Oh well.

After she left [livejournal.com profile] flybabydizzy came and we had much chatting and tea-drinking and when Rob came home we ate dinner (Sweet Masala vegan Indian takeaway) and then they went to bring stuff to the storage unit. Diz can't come unless I can think of a helpful task for her to do, so that's it this time.

Tomorrow 10-12 at least, probably later, some Tigglers Togglers people will be here, since the group is closed for the summer holidays. Then 2-4 Mary from Homestart, then 4:30 another friend with toddler, and we'll all have takeaway Indian, probably, from the meaty place. They're not as good as Sweet Masala but they're ok and they do things all the guests will eat.

On Thursday my mother in law will come at some point, possibly in the late evening, staying until Saturday, to do housework and things. I'll get out of the way on Friday so that I don't start doing any heavy housework myself, which is highly likely; I can't stand seeing someone do things in my house. I'm not fit to do serious housework; even hoovering is extremely hard on me these days, and really the two downstairs rooms need to be done daily. We have a little buggy for Linnea now so I can take her around in that on the buses - I think the pool, the library, and something in the town centre would be a good start. Not sure what in the town centre. Then on Saturday morning we're going to see if we can find the huge leisure complex somewhere around Bracknell which has a pool with waves and a pirate ship and things. Last time we went I had a period and couldn't swim; this time there's no way that can happen :)

And it's quite possible that on Sunday we'll go to WOMAD.
