Things I adore about my daughter
Nov. 12th, 2005 12:00 amThe way she holds her banana below the flowering peel and eats and eats until there are toothmarks in the white. They way she stomps her feet and laughs at me with her teeth all bare and pointy. The way she sits and pats the surface beside herself. The way she drags me to a seat and pats it, saying "Now!"
The way she says "Bye, p'ane!" as a plane flies out of site. The way she walks up to children in the playground and says "Hi!" The way she falls very carefully to the ground in public places, to get sympathy from random passers by. The way she says "Mo'NING!" in the mornings. The way she says "No down, up knee!" when I try to pull a fast one after she requests a cuddle. The way she has suddenly learned to pronounce Dog correctly again after months of not.
The way she takes her gloves and jacket off. The way she holds her arms ready for her jacket and reins. The way she insists on "socks!" if I remove her shoes. The way she closes her eyes with both hands. The way she feeds her donkey imaginary nyum from plastic spoons. The way she mops spillages.
The way she woke up this morning with a dry nappy and demanded a potty. She got one, too. She has denied every need to excrete since then, though - too busy I suppose.
The way she RUNS to me when she hasn't seen me for a whole two minutes - unless something more interesting is around. The way she calls her daddy Waab.
The way she sips her tea, too.
