Jul. 19th, 2004 06:30 pmSo, what's been happening to me? Um. Mostly, Linnea.
Every Tuesday I take Linnea to be weighed, though I don't always actually have her weighed. Mainly I go to meet the other women from my antenatal class, and we troop off for coffee and a little competitive parenting. The past few Fridays we've gone to postnatal classes; the first class was a safety video called "Stay safe!" or similar, with the true title of "Do not boil your baby! It can lead to bad 80s hair!". The second was on baby massage (apparently I've accidentally been doing it every time I oil Linnea's skin to stop it drying out, scaly monster). And the third and last class was on weaning and dental health.
Linnea's health
Linnea continues to get bigger. We took her to the doctor today because she has a hollow, echoing cough, and periodically stops breathing for seconds at a time, but apparently she's fine. And she chokes on nothing at all, unless she's choking on her own saliva. But she's fine. I wish she was a second baby so I could be nice and blase about this.
The doctor also thought it was very weird that when I drink cows' or soya milk, Linnea gets colic. Apparently this isn't possible. I think I need to go to the breastfeeding clinic, maybe on Thursday, and check whether they also think it's impossible.
Linnea's passports
Her Irish passport application was sent back; our witness wasn't at work when they tried to contact her. I wish Irish passports were as easy to get as British ones. I just know I'll have to go into London to meet someone else qualified to sign the forms. The local police won't do it because they don't know us personally. Perhaps I should get arrested under dramatic and memorable circumstances?
Her British passport, however, came back with an issue date of our first wedding anniversary. I admit that I think that that's cute. It just means that I really do need to bring my wedding cert and her birth cert with her passport when we travel, as we don't share a name and guardians aren't listed in passports. Just in cases.
Travel plans
We have booked train tickets to get to the con, and flights to get to Sweden. We still haven't settled on dates and flights for going to Ireland to see my family, but it should be sometime in September, I think.
Other social plans
Rob's parents and some old friends of theirs visited on Friday morning, and Rob's mother is coming again on Thursday and Friday this week. On Saturday we went to an antenatal-class-person's party, and later popped up to Darrell and Becky's - the insect bites I got while sitting between two citronella candles, in the smoke from the barbecue, have almed down a great deal; the largest is only 3 inches across now. We met some other people while there.
I am still working up to going to London for a day to see people. I don't know anyone free in the daytime, though.
And I'm still waiting for two hospital appointments.
