I have to post a 2000 word essay today. I have written 672 words, including the title. I can't think of anything else to write, I have skim-read my material, and I am beginning to seriously consider dropping out of the course - my last essay was similarly frustrating and poorly done, and I will have to do the next one while on my honeymoon.

I'll probably post it anyway, but I -

Oh, I don't know.

I've sent an appalling half an essay to my tutor. I feel wretched, but there's not a lot I can do about it - I've tried and it doesn't work.

Generally I'm really enjoying this course (philosophy), but right now I'm a bit stressed and down, and I still haven't gotten over that awful job, which doesn't help. Plus the wedding is looming like a big mistake (no, I know, it'll be fabulous and none of the disasters I'm dreaming about will actually come to pass). I really could stress over world peace and the elimination of starvation, I think, if I only had the chance.

Thankfully, now that I have bitten the bullet and sent the blasted thing off, I can maybe relax and cheer up a bit. I did the washing up and made jelly (jello for Americans) and ate breakfast, so that's got to be good.

This week I have...

  1. Done three week's worth of study, if badly
  2. Written an approximation of an essay
  3. Recovered from a very bad head cold (third in three weeks! Wahey!)
  4. Had a minor row with my mother-in-law
  5. Begun the process of tidying the house, dying towels, clearing the garden, etc etc
  6. Had the registrar approve the ceremony and set up an appointment to fill in all the paperwork pre-wedding
  7. Noted a number of printers who can't help with the order of service for the wedding
  8. Rearranged the seating plan to account for a missing brother-in-law
  9. Rearranged it again so that the displaced persons would have someone they knew to sit with

And I have failed to...

  1. Book accomodation for my sisters (I haven't left the house all week)
  2. Find a printer who can do the order of service
  3. Chase the florist
  4. Buy more dye so that I can dye more towels (see 1)
  5. Count the bedding we have, as we have two totally different sets of relatives staying in our house while we're on honeymoon
  6. Buy more bedding as appropriate (see 1) (I don't think we can ask guests to make sure they launder their bedding the morning of departure!)
  7. Buy more towels, though that may not be necessary; we have six sets, at least 4 of them will be dirty when we leave for the honeymoon, but I think it's pretty ordinary to pack your own towels so I doubt I will need to tell people to, really. Anyway Rob's Swedish relations won't mind a bit, they're very forgiving.
  8. Produce a decent essay, dammit. Damn damn damn damn. I am still too bleddy sick after that bleddy job to be able to actually read intelligently. It makes study very hard.

So now I have a list of Things to Do Tomorrow.
