Parent-parent meetings
Nov. 4th, 2001 09:00 pmRob's parents came to visit us and see my mother today. We all woke late and had a bit of a dash to be presentable by the time they came 'round.
They admired the library for a change; we've put some of the stuff from it into the spare room, and of course the new bookshelves help. I must remmber that not everyone can see a room at its best when it isn't; it's a useful interior decor trick my mind plays on me, and it has never yet failed, but it leads me to see places as they will be after a lot of work, rather than as they are.
We had a roast chicken dinner and a traditional Swedish birthday cake for dessert. Inger bakes those for birthdays. Mum approves greatly :)
I was gifted more chocolate, cat socks, and a sandwich toaster.
Allow me to wax lyrical about the toaster for a minute. It has two grill inserts, one for plain undivided grilling, and one that divides your two sandwiches neatly into triangular halves.
It is white, which is the only true colour for kitchen equipment.
It allows me to have toasted egg sandwiches, and toasted banana sandwiches, and Rob can have toasted chicken-and-gravy sandwiches (yeuch) and baked-bean sandwiches (double yeuch).
It means I'm about a zillion times more likely to have lunch than ever before.
Otherly, we went for a walk in a park, and Alan foolishly offered to help us with the corner of the bedroom tha tI thought had been done in concrete. Heh heh.
