Yep. I've said it before, too -- it would be easier to hold the line against hitting if I didn't have the strong suspicion that it *works*. (That is, it modifies behavior. I'm sure I don't have to tell you I think it also works to damage kids, etc., but I surely empathize with a deep desire to assert my power and modify the damn behavior.)
Does it help to know that it's *really* short term? Like, five seconds?
(I do wish I'd stood my ground and not allowed Rob to persuade me that it was working... but I'm glad I stood my ground and persuaded him that it had stopped doing so!)
There are times when I'd dearly love to give Nathan a clip round the ear. When we get cross at each other, I make a point of reminding myself that one of us needs to have some self control, and as I'm the adult, it needs to be me.
