ailbhe: (emer looking at mammy)

Stable now with rising possibilities

A four-month-old with a temperature of 39.6C / 103F isn't funny. We've all had a monstrous cold; Emer in particular keeps choking and gargling on mucus. Today she choked herself sick, slept for two hours, and woke with a fever. We forced paracetemol down her and over several hours her temperature dropped again.

Linnea was a little upset by the attention being paid to Emer (very Eithne agus an bhruitineach) and her bedtime was a drama. But everyone is now abed and asleep and all is well.

Except that it is all but impossible for me to eat enough. Ever.

We're also planning the purchase of a new table. I want something which will be invisible when we're not using it, but seat 25 comfortably when I want it to. With storage drawers. Mm.

And I found piano tuner numbers, Rob called them, and we're getting it seen to on Tuesday 2nd January. Hurrah! I can leave the lid up if the damn thing's in tune; it's horrible otherwise. But what's the point of a piano Linnea can't play?

I must find some more photos to get prints of, and get some, and send them to my sisters. Also thank-you-notes for the Christmas gifts, though I can't remember who sent what to whom at this stage.

And I have a parcel to post to [livejournal.com profile] radegund.

Poor Emer! Hugs from both of us, to her and then to Linnea so she doesn't get left out and then to you to keep you strong. I'll give Rob a manly handshake !

I recommend one of these, if you happen to have thousands and thousands to spend on it. The videos are just captivating.

That is just *pure* furniture porn.

God that's a beautiful thing to see.

Did we ever send you the photo of you with Emer in the sling?

One can get tables with insertable middle bits, which exist in, say, the basement when you don't need them.

Yeah, that makes sense. My family of origin actually keeps them behind the kitchen swinging door (which is almost always open), but my folks are a bit less worried about clutter than like, anyone else in the world.

I can't remember where I saw them, but I've seen odd cantilever gateleg tables that fold out in a normal gateleg fashion, and then fold out again so you get something twice the size it would be as a gateleg - I'll try and find a URL for them.

We have a wooden IKEA table at home, which sits 2 comfortably when folded, and expands to fit 5 or 8. I was a bit dubious about it at first (Keith chose it) but it's turned out to work really well.

http://tinyurl.com/s9wwv (because the IKEA url is stupidly long)

How are you all today?
