Angelina Ballerina
+ It was fab
- The mice were thin
+ It had a fart joke
- Even the padded-to-be-fat mice weren't fat, just slightly podgy, and they were male
+ The acting was hammy enough for a 3-year-old to follow even though it was all mouse masks and no facial expressions
- There was an elaborate joke about boys being rubbish with babies and girls all loving them
+ There was a good mix of human skin tones among the good mice
- The star good girl was snow-white and the bad fairy was coal-black
+ The children were able to see even from our seats (I slouched down to their level to be sure)
+ There was some nice unashamed being-nice-to-people in the plot
+ It was a totally accessible introduction to ballet but nonetheless had actual ballet and proper music
So apart from my finicky political wossname, it was fab. There was a sea of pink frills in the audience. We had to leave near the end for an urgent loo visit but made it back for the grand finale. Both children were impeccably behaved. Both were more than content with the programme-and-icecream and didn't ask for any of the other favours, like tshirts, mugs, snowglobes, shoes, books, dvds, light-uprabbitmouse ears... Both had a great time and so did I.
