Hurrah!

Happy birthday all birthed.

I sang Happy Birthday to Linnea before either of us was out of bed. Emer woke up and demanded a hug from Nea. Then we went downstairs and Linnea opened her present - a UNICEF doctor set, with white coat, stethoscope, thermometer, velcro bandaid, and syringe - and was ecstatic.

Before breakfast I sliced cucumber and tomato. After breakfast I made sandwiches and turned out jelly molds.

I took photos of all the food before it was interfered with (oh those pesky eaters!) and in spite of prepping far less than I thought anyone wanted, it was still too much.

I loved the way the fruit kebabs looked - many many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rivka for the idea.

Very few of the children were interested in the pasta, which I found surprising; I think that in spite of being invited to "tea" they came to "party," which has a very different set of expectations. One child walked up to me before leaving and demanded a party bag! I gave her one, of course.

At some small number am I decided to make antennae from the last two lollipops of the halloween sweets. So mid-party Rob nipped out to the corner shop for enough for everyone.

There were nine children including the on-mother's-lap baby, in the end. The eldest was over a year ahead of everyone and I was astonished by how good she was; she didn't even appear bored, and I can't imagine that she wasn't, because Linnea playing with a bunch of kids older than she is compared to a bunch of kids the same age or younger is very differen.t

Apply grammar and coherence on your own sleep schedule. Mine's a bit untidy at present.

Our beloved Mary came for half an hour and was lovely.

It was the lowest-key party I've ever been to in this country and the children all seemed perfectly happy with it. And I suyspect most of them went to bed on time.

Linnea enjoyed it.

Photos later.

You heroine! Congratulations to you, and happy birthday to Linnea!

I hope you get a better-than-average night's sleep tonight.

Low-key, but thoroughly celebrated. Well done.
