Your strength, courage and honesty in dealing with your personal bugbear leaves me in awe. That you do it while caring for children and participating in so many church and community things knocks me flat. You are a very strong and resourceful lady.
The courage with which you face your PND is matched only by the strength with which you force yourself to care for your family. With frankly unreliable emotional support (from someone who is depressed themselves!), you nonetheless ensure that your daughters have everything they need, in the material and emotional senses, while managing somehow not to lose sight of yourself and all the little personal quirks and preferences that individualise you. A lesser woman would have caved in long ago, becoming nothing more than a vessel for motherhood and depression; you are still Anna.
You are hysterically funny and incredibly wise and well-read and well informed. You're a devoted mother who constantly frames and observes that devotion in a social context, and conceives of it it in a feminist way, which is incredibly impressive. Plus, you are scrupulously honest, which I do not normally think of as a virtue in any way, but in you it is.
Whoa. Wow. Yikes. Well. Allow me first to address your points. Funny and wise I'll give you - well-read and well-informed surprise the hell out of me. Am I *really*? Or am I just bluffing? Because, um, I don't have the brainpower ot read much any more and I hardly ever hear or read a whole news bulletin at once. As to observing my devotion in a social context, well, I live in society. As to feminism, I am female. Is it just that I'm obvious about it in my thinking and writing, which I admit other peoples might not be so much? And then the honesty - but how do you know, eh? I could be making it all up! I might have HIRED Rob to visit Radz to back up my story! Um, lots of times. And there are the wedding photos. But it could all be an elaborate hoax a la Atwood's "Robber Bride"! (I'm also wondering why it's a virtue for me).
And now you. Well, you're cute and charming and funny and not ashamed of being occasionally pedantic and academic and all sorts of good uncool stuff. You have a wild bohemian lifestyle except when you stay home and come over all domesticated and knitty or cooky or worky, which is so exciting and to-thine-own-selves-be-true that I might burst (envy or admiration, who cares?). You decide to do stuff and then you do it, just because you want to. You really want to teach people stuff, which is a huge virtue vocation sainthood-inducing thing all on its own. You have excellent icons. And you are so romantic it warms the cockles of my heart, whatever they are.

(Honesty: well, I have seen Rob in the flesh meself, remember. And frequently, in my experience, people who pride themselves on being totally honest express this honesty through disregard for social convention and the feelings of others, whereas you use your honesty as a weapon against the hypocrisies of a sexist anti-child society. Not only are you beautiful, you are strong. The strength that you show in your journal is very encouraging. All that you have been through, the strength that you have to get through it....very inspiring!
And you are bearing up under unbelievable strain, still finding joy in your son, holding to your sense of what's right in spite of great external pressure, and not forgetting to lay aside photos for blackmail in later life.

You sing to your baby and cook meals from scratch, and you incubate life-plans until they can hatch. You find what you want and you work hard to get it, and you're learning that if it's not perfect, don't sweat it!
You don't start drama, anywhere that I've seen (for an ljer I don't actually know that's quite an accolade). You have excellent icons, which means you must have a great sense of humour. You have a meet and proper sense of respect for books. You take beautiful photos.
But - you are clever and charming and funny and wise and you are picky when it comes to men and marvellous when it comes to daughters and brave and also you reach out and embrace new things... and you are kind and thoughtful and very *remembering* and generous and a leetle bit dangerous which is sexy in its way, and you balance work and home and family and personal in a way I have only previously read about in self-help books.
You are gentle and kind and will go miles for the lightest of acquaintances and cross galaxies for friends. You are funny and reliable and thoughtful. You are clever (yes, you are, a poor memory is not an indication of poor intelligence!) and practical and sympathetic. And you work damn hard for your family.
