The very fact that the Head of Midwifery has started a scheme to involve patients/mothers in the improvement of midwifery services is a huge step in the right direction, I think. And of course My Midwife is second only to the gods in my estimation. I will be writing about her soonish as I need to write her a nomination for Midwife Of The Year.

The person who touched my breast, twice, without warning or consent, was a Staff Nurse, not a midwife, as it happens - but I know it's something midwives do all the time. The person who reduced a stressed mother to tears at 1 am was a midwife.
