Team Leader Non-Interview
The first interview was supposed to start at 2pm, last an hour. Mine was supposed to start at 3:30 pm. The one after mine was supposed to start at 4:30 pm, finishing at 5:30 pm, which is time to go home.
Mwahahahaha. At 13:30 I thought that perhaps we ought to find out where the interviewers were and someone phoned them; they were going to be late. At 15:30 the first interview started. At 18:00 it became clear that it wasn't going to finish in time for two more interviews that day, and we were - ah - encouraged to go to the pub. At about 19:30 I managed to escape from the pub, where people were indulging in Small Talk, something which I have never enjoyed nor been good at.
We started talking about mortgages and property and interesting things like that, and the female interviewer said "Oh my god, I'm starting to talk like a woman, I hate that," and changed the subject.
I have a bad feeling about this - although, to be fair, I didn't expect the interviews to happen according to plan. I can't maintain that kind of optimism in the face of repeated broken semi-promises.
Later, Rob and I went to see the new Harry Potter film, which was delightfully entertaining and used exactly the right parts of my brain to make me feel happy about having spent two days preparing for an interview, and an evening ironing a linen - linen - skirt.
If it helps, I looked great.
